What To Do The Night Before The Wedding With Your Bridesmaids?

If you’re a bride looking for wedding-eve ideas to spend with your bridesmaids, you’ve come to the right place!
These ideas are great for calming any wedding nerves and will help to ensure you have a relaxing evening to promote better sleep before the big day.

1. Have A Bridal Party Sleepover

Our favourite (tried and tested) idea is to have a bridal party sleepover the night before the wedding!

Light some candles, play some upbeat or relaxing music and spend the evening laughing and chatting with your bride squad!

We recommend playing some fun games like bridal party charades to take your mind off those pre-wedding nerves! Or why not put a fun film on (we recommend bridesmaids!), or binge on your favourite TV show!

Save yourself from cooking and order room service if you’re staying in a hotel, or have a relaxing healthy dinner with your bridesmaids if you don’t mind cooking the night before!

From Leanne (Chief Editor)

“I was Maid of Honour in 2019. The bride-to-be booked a bridal suite where we both stayed the night before the wedding. We spent a little time with the other bridesmaids beforehand, and then ordered room service (a glass of prosecco and a gorgeous, healthy grazing board). We spent the evening doing some beauty prep and chatted the night away. It was such a lovely way to get one-on-one time together before the big day.”

2. Head Out For Mocktails

If you fancy something a little more upbeat the night before the wedding, why not head out with the bridesmaids to a speak-easy or a local cocktail bar and have a few mocktails? This will help take your mind off the build up to the wedding but keep you feeling fresh for the big day, ensuring you wake up without a hangover!

3. Book a Yoga or Meditation Class

Why not have a look in your local area to see if there are any early evening meditation or yoga classes to help you wind down the night before the wedding?

Invite your bridesmaids along and enjoy a zen session of soothing music and mindfulness to set you all up for a big day ahead.

If yoga or meditation isn’t for everyone, check with the bridal party who might want to come along before having a sleepover or night in with the rest of the bridal party.

4. Give Your Bridesmaid Gifts

Bridesmaid gifts are an optional touch and it’s totally fine to pass on gifts if the bridesmaid dresses or accessories have been paid for. It is however, a lovely sentimental touch which can make the experience more memorable.
You don’t have to spend a lot – even a photograph and a thank you letter would be perfect.

For some, this idea might feel a little against the grain when it comes to wedding traditions, but the night before the wedding could be the perfect time to give your bridesmaids their gifts.

It is a tradition to give the bridesmaids their gifts on the morning of the wedding or during the speeches. The wedding morning, however, can be an extremely busy time with hair and makeup, dress changes and running errands. If you want to free up some time on the wedding morning or make your wedding speeches shorter, you can gift your bridesmaids the night before the wedding and it wouldn’t be weird at all.

We think this way would make a sentimental experience, as all of the wedding prep, hen party and planning will (hopefully!) be done by the evening, and what better time to thank your bridesmaids for being by your side?

Why not gift your bridesmaids some cosy, fresh bridal PJs and slippers, which they can wear that evening and also on the wedding morning for the getting ready photographs?

5. Book A Fun Activity

For the brides that might struggle to sleep who could do with burning off some energy through the day, or for the energetic brides who want to keep the celebrations going right up until the big day, – this one’s for you!

Why not book a fun early evening activity that will keep your mind occupied and have you tired out by the time the evening before the wedding comes, so you’ll sleep like a baby? Keep away from anything strenuous, you don’t want to tire yourself out too much for the wedding – but something upbeat like a paint and prosecco class (wear a decent apron!!), a late afternoon tea or a trip to the cinema? An activity like this can cost around the same as going out for a meal – so why not change it up a little and make the wedding eve a little more fun?!

6. Watch Your Favourite TV Series or a Movie!

It might sound like a strange suggestion – but there are no hard and fast rules about how you should spend your wedding-eve! If you find that watching your favourite movie or catching up on your favourite TV show relaxes your nerves, then do it!

Remember, you’ve spent months (or years!) focusing and planning the wedding. Now the planning is over and it’s completely OK to switch off and do nothing wedding-related the night before you get married. Whether it’s the Love Island final or a new release on Netflix, have no guilt just chilling with your bridesmaids watching some binge-worthy TV and enjoy the calm before the big day.
