Whether you’re the Maid of Honour or Bridesmaid that has been tasked with planning some games for the bridal shower, or you’re a bride organising her own, one of the most important things to think about is the games and the activities.

A few bridal shower games will not only help to break the ice with guests that haven’t met each other before, but it will also ensure there aren’t any dull moments if the mood comes down and the party needs a pick me up!

In this article, we round up the best bridal shower games to play that everyone will love, and we ask some of the FAQ’s too!

If you take a few games along to your bridal shower, it is important to read the room to decide on the right time to play. The best times are usually when guests are first meeting eachother (ice breakers are great for this!) or when there’s a bit of a lull!

The Best Bridal Shower Games to Play!

Below you’ll find a list of the best bridal shower games to play that we’re sure will go down a treat with your guests and the bride. These games below are our favourites, as they have been chosen for their potential to get your guests chatting, even if many of them have never met.

1) Bridal Party Charades

Overview: Each guest (starting with the bride-to-be!) must play turns to act out a bridal party charade. This could be a love song, romantic book, TV show or film, and the rest of the guests must compete to guess it correctly. Whoever guesses the charade correctly is up next to act out their charade. Ensure each guest knows the rules of charades before playing!

What You Need:

  • Enough charades for each guest (remember to mix them up and keep them wedding/love related!). Get a free copy of some charades here. Pop each charade in a hen party bag so every guest knows theirs, or put them in a pile.

2) Prosecco Pong

Overview: Setup a long table with 12 cups (or more depending on the total number of guests). Split the cups in half, and place at either side of the table. Fill up each cup with a splash of prosecco (you can change the drink to gin or something else if prosecco isn’t a favourite!).

Set the guests up into 2 teams where each member will play it in turns to throw a ping pong ball into their opponents cup. When a ball lands into the opponents cup, the loser must drink the prosecco from the cup that the ball landed in. The aim is to eliminate all of the cups, getting the opposite team to drink up their prosecco shots the quickest!

What You Need:

  • Plastic cups
  • Ping pong ball
  • A long table
  • A drink of your choice (prosecco, gin etc).
  • A spare cup of water to wash the ball if it falls on the floor!

3) Guess The Love Song

Overview: This is such a simple game that will get the energy up with some music. Simply create a playlist of some wedding/romantic style songs, where you play the first 3 seconds of the song and ask the guests to name the title of the song (1 point), and the artist (1 point). The guest with the most points wins!

Ensure to cover a range of decades and styles of music if you have guests of different ages attending.

What You Need:

  • Paper and pens
  • A Spotify playlist

4) Bridal Guest Bingo

Overview: This is a fun game that is fairly unique, which hasn’t been overdone – it’ll have everyone chatting and getting to know each other from the moment they arrive!

Create bingo cards (with 9 to 12 circles), and in place of numbers, simply add facts about the bride or the wedding, such as:

  • Circle 1: “Went to the brides primary school”
  • Circle 2: “Has been travelling to Australia”
  • Circle 3: “Loves Harry Potter”

Once all of the statements have been created on the bridal bingo card, you must hand them out to each guest. All of the guests are then instructed to find a guest who ticks each box on the bingo card. The first one to get a full house wins the game!

What You Need:

  • A bingo card created for each guest
  • Pens

5) Where Were The Bride & Groom?

Overview: A simple but sentimental game which focuses on the bride and groom’s relationship! Simply bring along a number of photographs of the bride and groom throughout the years. Try to get photos of the bride and groom in different locations – as the aim of the game is for the guests to guess where the love birds were in each photograph!

Number each photograph so you can refer to each photo when reading out the answers.

What You Need:

  • Around 10-12 photos of the bride and groom together, in different locations
  • Numbered paper to put above each photo so guests can write their location next to each picture

6) How Old Was The Bride

Overview: A very similar game to the one above which focuses on the bride! Try to get photos of the bride growing up / the bride at different ages. The guests must write down how old the bride was in each photo.

Number each photograph so you can refer to each photo when reading out the answers.

What You Need:

  • Around 10-12 photos of the bride growing up (of different ages)
  • Numbered paper to put above each photo

7) Bridal Shower Secrets

Overview: A fun game which is probably best kept once everyone is a little merry and had a few drinks! Put a box or a basket on a table with a pen and some paper. Ask the guests to write down a funny secret they have, and pop it into the box anonymously. The bride must pick out the secrets from the box and read them out loud. She must guess who she thinks the secret belongs to! If she guesses wrong, she should take a shot!

We have played this before and it was so funny. Some of the secrets that came out had everyone laughing so much! Tell guests to be as open as they want, but keep it clean if Grandma is there…

What You Need:

  • Pen, paper
  • A box or container

How Many Games Should Be Played At A Bridal Shower?

As an experienced bridesmaid and maid of honour who has organised (and attended!) a number of bridal showers, I advise preparing no more than 3 games for your bridal shower. Too many games can stop the natural flow of conversation between your guests, and too few can result in a bridal shower full of guests who haven’t mingled or met each other properly before the wedding!

Do Bridal Showers Need Games?

You don’t have to play games at a bridal shower, but it is advised to prepare and take some along with you, just in case! On the day you can ask everyone if they’re up for it and get a general consensus. Playing games is not for everyone, so we suggest that you check in with the bride to get her thoughts on how well-received they will be with the group.

If you still need help deciding, we advise looking at the guest list to decide if they’re a group that would gel quite easily or might need some games to help push everyone to get to know each other.

Another way to help you decide is by looking at your venue – are you in a house where everyone can mingle easily, or have you booked a venue where people are sat on tables away from one another making it harder for the group to chat? In this situation, games can come in useful for getting everyone to shuffle around and get out of their seats. Ultimately, it will depend on a few factors like this but we definitely say it’s best to be prepared!

And here it is! Our bridal shower game recommendations – all of these have been tried and tested. These were my personal favourite from all of the bridal showers I have attended and planned. These all got great feedback from the guests, too!
